Threat actor mecrobyte has posted details about a Moroccan hacker allegedly linked to cyber attacks on Tunisia. In a dark web post, mecrobyte said they shared this information to help the Tunisian government, pointing to a hacker going by jokeir07X.
The leak includes commit logs showing activity tied to the user’s email address. According to mecrobyte, this was meant to serve as a heads-up to Tunisia about who might be behind some recent low-level attacks.
While this is not a major data dump, it is a clear example of how threat actors sometimes expose each other’s identities, either to settle scores or to send a message. It also highlights how quickly cyber issues in the region can turn personal, with individual hackers being outed publicly.
