A threat actor, “EternalRed” has published what they claim to be personally identifiable information (PII) belonging to students of Université de Tlemcen, a public academic institution located in Tlemcen, Algeria.
The data, which appears in PDF format, was shared publicly on a dark web forum. The post includes screenshots of multiple pages showing what seem to be student names, ID numbers, and academic details.
Potential Impact
If verified, this incident could result in the exposure of:
- Student personal information (names, birth dates, and ID numbers).
- Enrollment or academic records.
- Institutional administrative data vulnerable to further exploitation.
Such exposure could lead to identity fraud, targeted phishing attacks, and unauthorized access to student or university systems.
