A threat actor known as mecrobyte has claimed responsibility for breaching the core servers of the Moroccan Agricultural Development Agency (وكالة التنمية الفلاحية), alleging they gained full root access to the agency’s infrastructure. The attackers framed the hack as retaliation for what they described as corruption and exploitation of public resources that undermine local farming communities.
According to the statement posted on a dark web forum, the stolen data includes:
- Personal information of farmers and citizens tied to agricultural development programs.
- Confidential CREJ project data, detailing government-funded agricultural initiatives.
- Internal archives, containing secret communications and unpublished reports.
- Complete logs of complaints and grievances from citizens and local farmers allegedly ignored or buried by the agency.
A sample dataset was provided through a file-sharing link, underscoring the threat’s credibility and raising serious concerns over privacy, transparency, and the impact on Morocco’s agricultural sector.
