A data breach targeting the Ekiti State Government (Nigeria) has surfaced on Telegram, first posted by Bjorkanism (Bjorka) and later reshared by Dedale Office.
The threat actor claims to have accessed a database over 2GB in size from ekitistate.gov.ng, containing government documents. A 300MB sample has already been released.
From the shared samples, it’s clear that the leak includes highly sensitive personal data, not just internal documents.
The samples show:
- CVs / resumes of citizens
- Government ID documents (photos attached)
- Police service records
In short, this constitutes a full personal data exposure affecting public servants in Ekiti State.
Leaks like this have real consequences. Exposed personal data can be used for:
- Identity theft
- Fraud
- Social engineering
- Targeting of public employees
It’s urgent that affected government platforms are reviewed and secured — and that citizens are notified if their data may have been exposed.
