A dark web actor using the alias joshaux has allegedly leaked the identities and national ID numbers of 5,922 students enrolled in Egypt’s technical education system.
According to the post, the alleget leak contains;
- Full Names
- National IDs
- Raw data posted on cybercrime forums in list format
Exposing national ID numbers paired with names significantly raises the potential for:
- Identity theft and impersonation, including fraudulent account creation and SIM scams
- Targeted phishing and scams directed at students or their families
- Long-term privacy risks, as national IDs are permanent identifiers
This incident highlights the repeated risks affecting Egypt’s educational infrastructure systems that often lack robust cybersecurity protections.
